Fijian for a Day

Discover Fijian culture with the locals on this fantastic day of sightseeing, traditional ceremonies and activities. Cost for adults is $25, children $10.
 

Activities

10.00am - Arrive at Niubasaga Village

10.10am - Meet Epeli, your guide

  • Learn how to wear Fijian sulus.
  • Introduction to Fijian customs during yaqona presentation.
  • Meet the chief and village members.

10.30am - Yaqona presentation

  • History of Ratu (the chief) and Niubasaga Village
  • Natural resources and sources of living.

11.15am - Leave Niubasaga Village and take a 15 minute walk to Matavula Farm

  • Learn about washing areas for clothes, showers
  • Learn about dalo, cassava and yaqona plantations.
  • Arrive back at Matavula farm for a rest.
  • Salusalu welcome presentation
  • Welcome with traditional Fijian songs

11.30am - Leave Matavula Farm for a 10 minute walk to Nacula

  • Arrive at sight seeing area for a 10 minute rest and photos
  • Hear the story of Nacula old village and island history
  • From this vantage point view Lost Island (Nasautabu), Toberua Island (Hotel), Snake Island (Naivakataqa), Leluvia Island (Resort) and Wacakuro (Coral Island)
  • View Caqalai Hideaway and the mainland

12.15pm - Leave the old village

12.45pm - Lunch: Delicious Fijian delicacies lovo-style with mouth watering fresh fruits

  • Entertainment consists of traditional Fjian folk songs
1.15pm - Entertainment: Fijian floor dance and Taralala
2.00pm - Farewell song Isa Lei
  • Leave Matavula Farm and arrive back at Niubasaga
